Anyways, we spent the 4th of July together and had started with a morning of tennis (yay!). We went to see Cars (great movie that spawned my obsessive hunt for McDonald's happy meal toys) and ran into our favourite "Kazakhstanian", Borat Sagdiyev, at the movie theatre.
Oh Borat, oh how he loves America.
We made our way to the Taste of Chicago at Grant Park that evening for dinner.
It's basically a big fair with lots of food by different restaurants. Each had about 3-4 things on their menu and there was also a "Taste" portion which is a small portion of something on the menu. Sometimes, you get a great deal (3 tickets for a lot of rib tips from Robinsons!) or you get a really horrible deal (3 tickets for 5 pellets of Frontier Chicken from some Indian place - cheap!). We had lots of fun and ate lots. My favourite was the roasted corn from the Dominicks stand.
North-siders and South-siders all mingled at the Taste and it was quite popular, especially on that day.
Since it was nearby, we strolled over to Buckingham Fountain for a night shot...
... and then made our way out to a pier (with a great view looking back towards the loop!)...
... for some Navy Pier fireworks to top off the 4th of July!
